About
So you’re probably wondering who writes this blog. I wish that I could provide full disclosure, but right now I’ve got one foot in and one foot out of the institutional church. It has not been an easy road over the past four years, ever since reading the Jake Colsen book, So You Don’t Want to Go to Church Anymore (by Wayne Jacobsen and Dave Coleman). Soon I began listening to The God Journey podcasts with an open mind and an open Bible. My world soon turned upside down!
I was ordained as professional clergy in 1980 and I have served in key positions within churches and the denominational structure of a large evangelical denomination. And I’m slowly transitioning my way to a secular vocation, but it’s not as easy as I thought it would be. And it’s taken much longer than I had hoped: part of the danger of becoming entangled within a man-made system of religion. It affects everything, even my retirement account, but I’m looking forward to the day when I’ll be completely free!
So I hope you don’t mind reading this blog under this veil of mystery.
